Review & Giveaway: Kiddie Catch-All

>> Tuesday, March 1, 2011

I don't know about you, but no sooner as I hit the highway do I hear from the backseat, "Mommy, my toy fell on the floor."  Sound familiar?

That is why the Kiddie Catch-All was created. Developed by a SAHM of a 2 1/2 year old and her mother, Kiddie Catch-All is the perfect accessory for your car, truck or minivan! Fill it with toys, games, books, snacks, sippie cups...whatever your child wants is now right at their fingertips with the Kiddie Catch-All! Never worry about picking things off the the floor while driving again! And no more taking your eyes off the road! Keep your car organized, your family safe and your children occupied with the Kiddie Catch-All.

I was recently sent the Kiddie Catch-All to review and happened to receive it the evening before I was to leave on a road trip to Florida. What a perfect time to try it out! Honestly, I was a little worried how they would fit on my kid's Britax seats since they tend to be a bit more oversized than some other seats on the market. However, it fit nicely on our Boulevard and hung on the arm rest of the Frontier without a problem. I loaded our Kiddie Catch-All up with toys, a few books, a sippy cup, and a snack and we hit the road.

I usually love mom-invented products and the Kiddie Catch-All is no exception. This thing is wonderful! The kids had all of their goodies within arms reach and it made traveling so much easier. Plus, it's great because now the toys have a place to go instead of all over the van floor. Oh, and since we all know that kids spill, be rest assured that the nylon bag is machine washable!

The only downside is that the hook on the frame is not adjustable. For this reason, there are a few seats that it may not fit properly. Kiddie Catch-All has compiled a list of non-compatible seats, which you can view here. However, just because it may not fit your seat doesn't mean you can't use it. I tried it out on the arm rest of my Honda Odyssey and it fit perfectly!

Buy It

For a limited time, if you buy a Kiddie Catch-All at the discounted price of $12.95 plus S&H you will get another Kiddie Catch-All FREE! Plus, they are also offering a FREE Bonus CD (a $10 value) of sing-along children's songs.

Juno Jr. DVD & CD Review and Giveaway

>> Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Giveaway is Closed.

To celebrate Spoiled...but Not Rotten's first birthday, we have an awesome giveaway that is being sponsored by The Juno Company. The Juno Company's new Juno Jr. line, aimed at preschool-aged children, expands on the Emmy Award-winning Juno Baby line with beautiful, original orchestral music, rich story lines, and a deep emphasis on music education and appreciation. The Juno Company was founded by Belinda Takahashi, award-winning composer and mom, to create and share original, beautiful, thoughtful, and inspirational music for developing minds.

The Juno Company sent me 3 different products to review:

One Bunny Band DVD

After Bunny's "serenade stand" doesn't live up to her expectations, Indie hires her to be his own, personal "One Bunny Band." Indie gets more than he bargains for as Bunny misses the music mark time and time again. But in the end, Bunny and her friends learn how to put feelings into their music through concepts such as tempo, dynamics and articulation.

The Day the Music Stopped DVD

When Bunny presses the big red button on Murphy's Shush Machine, she inadvertently silences the town of Harmonia Springs. Juno realizes that, in order to bring life back to the town, she and her friends have to create their own music through melody, harmony, rhythm and - most of all - friendship.

Welcome to Harmonia Springs CD
Super Duper Deluxe Edition

The Juno Jr. Super Duper Deluxe Edition features both instrumental and sing-along tracks from the Juno Jr. series, including the DVDs, "One Bunny Band," "The Day the Music Stopped," and "Friends Make a Symphony." All titles are performed live by the Juno Jr. Orchestra, and composed by Belinda Takahashi, Ph. D.

My Thoughts

The Juno Jr. DVD and CD were both a huge hit with my children. I did have doubts that the DVDs would hold my two-year old's attention, but she actually watched the entire DVD in one sitting!  Each DVD immediately captivated both her and my four-year old and they quickly fell in love with Juno and her friends! I have previously given rave reviews of the Juno Baby line and these new Juno Jr. products are just as wonderful. The entire line of Juno DVDs are put together beautifully. The characters are vibrant and entertaining and the orchestral music is wonderfully composed. Each DVD features an original score recorded by a live orchestra, not the synthesized music you often find in kids programs on the market today. Not only does the Juno Jr. DVDs teach musical awareness, but they also do a great job at addressing childhood fears, the importance of friendship, and trying new things.  I also loved the fact that musical instruments were integrated into the landscape throughout the DVDs. My children and I actually made a game out of finding them! Each DVD can be played in English, Spanish or French and includes interactive language flash cards.

Both of my children love music and this CD is no exception. The opening song on the CD is Juno's Theme song and immediately draws you in. The instrumental songs not only entertained my children, but myself as well. The entire CD is well mastered and makes for an enjoyable listening experience. This CD is a great supplement to the DVDs and perfect for listening at home or in the car.

I was also impressed to learn of The Juno Company's One for All program. For every Juno product purchased, The Juno Company donates a very special music education DVD to a child in need. How awesome is that!?!

If you are ready to introduce your child to Juno, you can purchase The Juno Company products online at  The Juno Company website or through Amazon.

iCrayonMaker Review & $15 iTunes Gift Card Giveaway

>> Sunday, January 9, 2011

This giveaway is closed.

iCrayonMaker is an app for the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad which allows you to create your own crayon colors. You can then take your newly created color crayons over to your drawing pad to create your own designs!

I was recently given the opportunity to try out iCrayonMaker for the iPod/iPhone and  iCrayonMaker HD for the iPad . Each app is simple to use and allows you to create your own color crayon! Choose from one of the color crayons listed at the bottom, touch the area in the middle, now start swirling your finger to create the perfect color for you! With the iPod Touch/iPhone version, you save your colors by naming them. Alternatively, iCrayonMaker HD for the iPad saves your crayon creations in a "drawer" on the left side of the screen.

Now that you have created your perfect color, head over to the Crayon Draw tab and start using your new color creation to create your own masterpiece. You can add glitter, chalk, and felt to the mix to create a whole new effect!

Want to share your new creation with your friends? You can easily email you crayon colors to your family and friends, post on Facebook , or save it to your device.

After downloading the apps, I gave the iPad to my 4-year old to try out and my 2-year old tried out the iPod Touch/iPhone version. Who better to try out a kid app than kids, right? They immediately began creating colors with the app and drawing with their new crayon colors! My 4-year old kept saying, "this is so cool" and ecstatically kept showing me all the new crayon colors he had created. My 2-year old, who is pretty efficient at using an iPod herself, appeared to like the app just as much! If you are looking for an app to keep the kids busy while encouraging your child to be creative, I highly recommend iCrayonMaker!

Buy It

iCrayonMaker is inexpensive and the perfect app to bring out while you are grocery shopping or while waiting at the doctor's office. You can purchase your own iCrayonMaker for the iPod/iPhone for just $.99 or iCrayonMaker HD for the iPad for $1.99!

Play-Doh Mega Fun Factory Review & Giveaway

Giveaway is Closed.

Today is Day 8 of Eight Days of Giveaways! Some giveaway items were donated by companies and others originated from group buying sites such as Eversave, Plum District, ect. You have all been awesome to me during my first year of blogging and I want to pass my appreciation on to you during this holiday season.

Our eighth giveaway is Hasbro's Play-Doh Mega Fun Factory Playset! Recommended for ages 3 and up, kids will have fun working on their very own pretend toy and candy factory! This fun factory even features a moving conveyor belt that cranks out lots of pretend toys and food!

We received our Play-Doh Mega Fun Factory and immediately upon opening, my kids wanted to play with it. My kids love Play-Doh and I could tell just from the front of the box that they were going to have fun with this set! The set comes with the Mega Fun Factory playset which features a moving conveyor belt, 2 stamper wheels - one dedicated to toys, the other to candies, a playmat, and 6 cans of Play-Doh! You will need to put in  2 "C" batteries to get the conveyor belt moving.

Although it is recommended for ages 3 and up, my 2 year old was able to play with this set without a problem. To get started, you simply push the Play-Doh down onto the conveyer belt. Once it is on the conveyor belt, now the kids can choose to make either toys (like Mr. Potato Head, My Little Pony, and Tonka Trucks) or candy (like peppermints, candy corn, and jelly beans). Once the toy or candy creations are made, the children can cut them into the desired length. I found that both the stampers and the cutters easily moved up and down and both my 2 and 4 year old used them without a problem. They also enjoyed placing their new creations on the playmat which features a toy side and candy side.

As with any Play-Doh set, I highly recommend getting all the Play-Doh out of the set before storing.  Much to my satisfaction, this one was very easy to clean.  I also loved that the Play-Doh was easily stored in the set itself, making storage a breeze!

My kids absolutely loved this set and now your children can too! Amazon currently is selling the Play-Doh Mega Fun Factory for $19.00 with free shipping for Amazon Prime members.

Thanks to Hasbro, one lucky SbNR will get their very own Play-Doh Mega Fun Factory Playset!

Mandatory Entry: Visit Hasbro and come back and leave a comment with which other Play-Doh set you would like to own.  ***It is very important that you include your email address in your comments so that I can contact you if you win!***

For Additional Entries:
*** Please leave a separate comment for each entry and don't forget to include your email address!***
The Legal Stuff: The Play-Doh Mega Fun Factory for my review and giveaway was donated by the wonderful people over at Hasbro and Litzky Public Relations. This giveaway is open to US residents only with a non-P.O. Box shipping address. Giveaway will end at 11:59pm EST on November, 30, 2010. Little Green Books Review & Giveaway

>> Sunday, November 21, 2010

Giveaway is Closed.

Today is Day 7 of Eight Days of Giveaways! Some giveaway items were donated by companies and others originated from group buying sites such as Eversave, Plum District, ect. You have all been awesome to me during my first year of blogging and I want to pass my appreciation on to you during this holiday season.

Our seventh giveaway was generously donated by Little Green Books. Little Green Books is a new eco-friendly series that is devoted to educating children about the benefits of being green. Little Green Books covers a variety of subjects, teaching children about the dangers of global warming, the benefits of recycling, what they can do to help endangered animals, and much more. Their books are made from recycled paper and printed with vegetable or soy based inks. Plus, their storybooks include a glossary of terms so that parents and children can learn them together! You can also head over to Little Green Books for fun, interactive games and downloadable activities that are great additional learning resources!

Little Green Books sent me 5 different books to review:

Little Panda by Kimberly Ainsworth

Meet Little Panda and his friend Little Monkey as they spend their day eating their favorite foods and playing together! This supersoft fleece cloth book is made out of cotton and recycled Polartec fleece. Plus, it is machine washable! This book is recommended for ages 0-3.

My thoughts: This cloth book is perfect for little ones! The colors are bright and vibrant and the Polartec fleece is so soft to the touch. It comes in a chipboard box made from 100% recycled materials, so it is very easy to wrap up as a gift! Little ones will love this!

My First Garden by Wendy Lewison

Come along with a mother and daughter as they dig up soil, plant a flower bed, and water the seeds to make their very first garden. Together they watch the colorful vegetables grow, grow, grow! This book teaches a first concept of colors as well. This book is recommended for ages 2-5.

My Thoughts: At first glance, I loved the look of this book. The front of the book is shaped like a basket and even has a handle! My 2 year old immediately took to this book and carried it all around the house. Not only is my daughter learning about different vegetables, it is teaching her colors as well. This one is a big hit!

This is Our World: A Story about Taking Care of the Earth
 by Emily Sollinger

Join the fun on this interactive journey while learning to clean the air, reduce pollution, recycle, and more. Nine-double sided puzzle pieces are included in this book so kids can create two different puzzles. This board book is recommended for ages 4-6.

My Thoughts: I really like the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" message throughout this book. It is a brightly colored book that captivated both my 2 and 4 year old. This book has been the most used out of all of them because of the puzzle!

The Adventures of an Aluminum Can by Alison Inches

Peek into the diary of an aluminum can as it goes on a journey from inside a bauxite rock under the beaches of Jamaica, to the manufacturing line, to the store shelf, to a garbage can, and finally to a recycling plant where it emerges into its new life as a baseball bat. Recommended for ages 4-6.

My Thoughts: This book is told from the point of view of an aluminum can. It is a great story about how an aluminum can is made. Honestly, I thought that this book might be over by four year old's head, but I was wrong! He actually loved this book and has asked me to read it several times this week. When asked which book was his favorite out of the five I reviewed, he chose this one!

The Polar Bears' Home by Lara Bergen

Come along on an Arctic adventure with a little girl and her father and learn all about polar bears! This 8x8 storybook shows how global warming affects two baby polar bear cubs and their family.

My Thoughts: My 4 year old loves animals so this one was a big hit with him as well. I love that this book also includes tips for kids on what they can do to help stop global warming.

Little Green Books can be purchased online at Amazon. These books are currently eligible for a 4-for-3 promotion  - buy any 4 eligible items and get the lowest-priced item free!

Thanks to Little Green Books, four lucky SbNR readers will receive a copy of all the books I reviewed today (a total of 5 books)!

Mandatory Entry: Visit  Little Green Books and come back and leave a comment with which book you would most like to read with your child. ***It is very important that you include your email address in your comments so that I can contact you if you win!***
